Debit card collusion?

(December 1, 2011) -- Responding to a letter from five Democratic legislators, the Justice Department has said it is reviewing whether banks and their trade associations violated antitrust laws through concerted action in response to federal efforts to reduce the fees banks charge when consumers use credit cards. The bank industry has been vocal in its opposition to federal action taken this fall to reduce debit-card swipe fees, which occurred at the behest of retailers and consumer groups....
