FTC charges wife: Health benefits telemarketing case heats up

(January 17, 2011) -- The Commission has now charged both husband and wife as codefendants in a scheme to defraud vulnerable individuals in need of health insurance. In August, the FTC charged United States Benefits and Timothy Thomas as primary defendants in a telemarketing scheme and Thomas’s wife, Kennan Dozier, as only a “relief defendant.” The Commission has now amended their complaint and charged Dozier as a primary defendant....
