(August 2, 2012) -- The Federal Trade Commission, as part of its crackdown on scams that exploit folks in financial distress, won a temporary restraining order that shut down a nationwide con that targeted financially-distressed Spanish-speaking homeowners. These consumers were allegedly falsely promised relief on their monthly mortgages so long as they forked over large upfront fees.
