Auto warranty scheme reaps $4+ million fine

(January 17, 2011) -- A U.S. district court judge clamped down on a Florida company that he ruled used pre-recorded robocalls to sell fraudulent auto service warranties. The court found that Dolce Group Worldwide, LLC d/b/a My Car Solutions, iCost Direct, and Insurance Cost Direct and its owner, Fred Khalilian, lured consumers into purchasing useless service contracts, the FTC said.
