Rosch to EU: Don’t Make Our Mistakes

(September 30, 2011) -- In the European Union, many individual and corporate victims of illegal anti-competitive practices have little redress for the injuries they suffered, because only 16 of 27 countries allow people to bring their own claims to court. The European Union is deliberating over how best to solve the problem. But in a speech delivered in the United Kingdom on September 23, FTC Commissioner J. Thomas Rosch warned that duplicating the American “class-action” landscape could add to the region’s woes, not reduce them....
